You will need to wet the inside of the grip and the handlebar in order to slide the grip on because rubber doesn't slid on metal. You can wet it with water if you get them on before the water dries. After the water dries, you can't get the grips off unless you wet them inside with water. Some people use other things to lubricate the pads so they will go on, such as hair spray, windex, detergent mixed with water - but I don't recommend anything except plain water because something else might make the grips slip and come off while you are riding, which could cause a wreck and serious injury.
