I got the large size for my tortoise who naturally tromps through it and soaks in it more than he actually drinks from it (they aren't big water consumers.) He used to walk through the dish he had before but it was the kidney style and not one he could really sit in comfortably. I have the water dish located under the heat lamp and he uses it often so I will translate that as tortoise approved! I just have to change the water once or twice a day and he's happy as can be.

Knowing it must be hard to find water in the summer months for wild lizards, I bought this for the lizards that roam around outside. I was always looking for something for the lizards to drink out of that they would not drown and this works perfectly. An added bonus is that it blends in with the outdoors so you can't really even tell it's there.

My corn snake has one. She's outgrowing it (they need one big enough to curl up in if they so choose) but it was great when she was little. She's over three feet now, but when she was under three feet it was a perfect fit.I'd recommend it for any medium lizard's "bedroom" (hate the word "cage" so I call it a bedroom) and for "thin" snakes (corn snakes, king snakes, etc.) in the 1-3 foot range, "fat" snakes (boas and pythons) in the 10 inch to 2 foot range.
