The process sounded simple. Shake the used litter through the sifter into the other pan, put the clean one on top and the other on the bottom. Well, after a few tries I gave up and just use the pan as a traditional one. I clean it out with a scoop and simply replace the removed littler with fresh litter. My cat had little trouble switching from his older, larger pan to this one. It is much lighter so I can lift it easier, and seems quite sturdy in construction. One end is narrower than the other so that is the one I have facing outward. There is some litter kicked outside the pan but not much. As long as Lacy uses it I will keep it.

I kind of love this litter pan and I've been using it for a few days now. I really like the way it's built and it works like a charm EXCEPT if your cat pees into corners. This is where it clumps and gets stuck, which you have you scrape off and then was the sifting pan every time, which seems to take more time than expected. But the truth is, I was doing that with less success than I was with a regular pan. This just makes it a little easier to get to the gross parts of the pan without having to dump all your litter out to do it. I use it with regular clumping litter. My only gripe is that the pan is a bit on the small side, but my cats don't seem to mind too much.

I bought three of these last month. My sister had recommended them to me and I decided to just go ahead and buy all three that I need at once. They are great - it's so nice not to sit there like some sort of cat scat fetishist and pluck out the soiled litter bits.I can clean all three boxes in under ten minutes. Two caveats: If you have a long cat, s/he might not always make deposits in the box, but on the floor next to it - larger cats tend to hang over the edge a bit. The other is that I find the plastic seems to retain odor more than my previous boxes did (from PetSmart), but they are easy enough to rinse out.

This product helped me out so much. I don't have to use a scooped any more.It is very easy to dump the contents out. I will be ordering 2 more for myfamily because they seen mine and asked if I could get them one...so I am.I would very much recommend this product.

For those of you who, like me, have many cats, this is the easiest way to decrease your litter scooping time. I don't bother with pine litter or anything else in a higher price bracket. I use the cheapest clumping litter I can buy at Walmart and sift it every day. Walmart used to make its own sifting litter pans, which were great, but that product is no longer available. These litter pans are fine substitutes. The coating on the plastic is reasonably non-stick. If you hold the screen in a large bag with one hand and hit the back of it with the litter scoop in your other hand, the more sticky clumps will be released. This is a good-sized pan, and my 17-pound cats have no trouble fitting inside or turning around to find the ideal spot for their business. One end of the pan dips lower for ease of entry. The top frame probably helps prevent some litter from flying out, yet it also takes a moment longer to attach due to its tightly latching edges. I'm neutral on this attribute. An online search will bring up several other sifting pans, but they are at least twice the price of this one. I use 6 litter pans for 14 cats and spend a total of no more than 5-10 minutes a day sifting all 6 pans. This product works nicely here.
