This is a great container for water in the summer or as long as you don't have freezing weather. The reason for the 4 stars -- it probably should not hold over 4 gallons -- 5 gallons is too heavy to safely carry and it says not to carry with the handle on the lid. The other thing if you don't get it precisely balanced -- all the water will pour out over the ledge. Probably need to have a hose out to the chicken house where you can just fill it and not have to carry it. I would order another one if there were a smaller option.

Quality product, well constructed and solid. You will not find a better price for this product anywhere else. I shopped around and could this seller to be most reasonable. Do NOT hang this up, it will damage it. I put mine on top of. Brick to prevent it from getting contaminated by chickens.

It is a great help. I have to fill it less times and it helps keep the water cleaner. I highly recommend it for people with a larger flock of chickens.

This hasn't stood the test of time yet, but it is a great functional concept, and while I hesitated to buy a plastic waterer to use outside in the sun, (the health of my flock is very important to me) I decided to try this and leave it in shady areas. It is easy to use, the directions come plastered on the outside of it for ease of keeping track of until you are familiar with how it works. It's concept is vacuum and is somewhat difficult to judge just how much to tighten/loosen the top.The drinking base is much too large for baby chicks - this is for older birds.

We live in Az. with lots of chickens & the largest container we could purchase was a 3 gal. which needs to be filled more frequently; this one will make life much easier. This waterer is also easier to fill than the ones we presently have.
