I have used this product twice: once on a 4 month old kitten with explosive diarrhea and once on a 2 year old cat with bad diarrhea (but not explosive). On the kitten it only worked slightly but in the end he needed prescription stuff, for the 2 year old it worked great! He really fought me when I tried to put it directly in his mouth but when I mixed it into wet food he ate it right up and after only about 4 doses given over two-three days (I did not give it every four hours because who has time to do that anyway?). His poop is now back to normal. So I guess it can be hit or miss for some people and might depend on how severe the diarrhea is but I definitely recommend giving it a try before paying a ton for a vet visit.

My yorkie has had bouts (that the vets think is pancreatitis) where diarrhea was horrible and during one episode we couldn't get it stopped even after weeks of rice, fasting, etc. I searched the net and decided to try this after she had lost about half her weight! On the third day I was about to give up hope and then the miraculous part happened...no more diarrhea! And that episode was over. I keep this on hand constantly just in case. Now I'm not saying this is a permanent cure but it worked for an emergency when nothing else did. I accidentally changed her dog food from Iams to Purina Pro Plan salmon and she has not had diarrhea since.

We have a cat who has chronic diarrhea ( evidently inflamatory bowel syndrome ) and this is very effective for her problem. The same thing from the vet office was a thick medication in a tube. This Pet Pectillin is a liquid and I use a dropper ( does not come with the package ). I have studied what others do with cats that have this problem. For food I give her baby food meat and put a little pumpkin in it, and if she had any drips give her a dropper of the pectillin. This has allowed this particular cat to live a more normal life. Yes - I do know that some people would not keep a cat like this but she was a stray and I will continue to try to do my best for the cat. The side of the box says Pectin provides a protective coating to irritated gastrointestinal membrances... . I believe this is a true statement so I would encourage those with dogs or cats with diarrhea to try this product.
