I have seen this toy for a long time. Had I known how big and sturdy it was, I would have ordered it a long time ago. My horse is currently in a stall and run with daily turnout. But, he weaves when he is inside and he does better when he has something to distract him. I have tried several toys in the past. He is only interested in edible toys, but his favorite (Uncle Jimmy's Hangin' Balls) are a fly magnet, so I can't use them in the summer. This seemed like the best alternative.I wasn't sure he would really understand it. I thought he would get frustrated and give up. Since he likes to stand on anything within reach like ground poles, mounting blocks, chairs, etc., I thought he might also try to stand on it and crush it. Luckily, none of these were the case. He figured it out in just a couple of minutes, and it keeps him occupied for quite a while. It is very sturdy, and there is really nothing to stand on because it is round and he can't get a good hoof hold.Even though it works for what I wanted it for, it is not perfect. If you just have a stall, I think it would get messy because the horse will push it through manure. I am very lucky to have a run to put his in so it has stayed relatively clean, except for goobers. Also, it is hard to clean inside. Although I haven't had to clean it out yet, I think it will be hard to scrub it out just because of the odd internal shape. I am planning on taking it to a car wash and just blasting the dirt off with their soap and high pressure water. It works perfectly for what I wanted, and my horse is entertained without having a fly magnet as a toy.
