I followed the instructions. It took about a day and a half of the jug sitting in the sun. The bait got good and stinky. Flies were all over this thing and soon I had to empty it. I used an empty ice cream bucket with a lid. I will put it in the trash as soon as winter comes and it freezes solid. Heh. Also, I used chicken gizzards as bait the second time around. They are cheap and just about 3 or 4 will create the same fly catching smell once they get to decomposing. Would buy again.

This is definitely the best fly catching product of the bunch. I bought one for myself and one for my parents.

It took a week or so for flies to begin being trapped in it, but now there are sooo many! It does stink, but it works. Not sure I can make myself clean it and reuse it or not, but I think it was worth it!

We have a new puppy and his deposits in the back yard have attracted a huge number of flies even though we pick it up immediately. The problem has only been exacerbated by the heatwave we have been having in the North East. They had started to invade the house and with my wife being pregnant we have been trying not to use fly sprays or other insecticides. This product has been a godsend. Within 15 minutes of hanging the trap in a tree near where the pup does his business it had caught half a dozen flies and now, a week later, the bowl is totally black with a hundred or more flies in there. The house is nearly fly free with only one or two coming in per day and I could not be happier.

I hate flies. They seem to be way smarter than they should be for their size. They lurk outside the kitchen door (which leads to the open-air carport), as if waiting for their opportunity to fly into the house and find the source of the food they must be smelling.I put one of these in the carport, and the first day, nothing. The next day, there was a least two dozen flies floating inside. After a week, I can't count them.Sure, I still get the occasional fly coming into the house, but each fly killed in this trap eliminates about 150 new ones. If you've got too many flies buzzing around your house, I recommend this.PROS:1. It works2. No poisons3. Suppose to work for 2 months per bait packet (I'm on week two)4. Easy to set-up, and then there's nothing to do but let it kill fliesCONS:1. Don't even think about putting it indoors--it stinks too much2. Eventually, you have to empty it to reuse it, and once you empty it, there goes your bait water3. You have to figure out where to empty the stinky, dead fly infested bait water (I haven't gotten to that point yet, but I'm leaning toward the toilet)

I had a fly infestation that I thought would never go away. Well after using 2 of these for a month no more flies!
