The idea for Pro.Fit was born in response to cellular customers who desired a professional, custom installation - making their phone easy to reach and easy to operate. Each year these same customers would return with their new car for that same professional, custom installation. Some were driving new Mercedes, some new Ford pickups. The need was real. More and more people wanted a professional, custom installation. Pro.Fit VSMs fill that need. Breaking away from the traditional mounting methods, Pro.Fit found most people were reluctant to have someone drill screws into the dash or console of their car. Pro.Fit responded to these concerns by designing a mount that attaches to existing fittings within the dash, avoiding any visible damage to the car.

Pro.Fit addresses safety issues by making your mobile electronics convenient and accessible. If a phone, satellite radio or GPS is in a car, put it where it's safe. Safe, as in easy to reach, easy to see and easy to operate while driving. Pro.Fit takes the issues and concerns of both the cellular customers and installers into consideration when engineering new mounts.

Pro.Fit International, Inc., a privately held Minnesota corporation based in Eagan, Minnesota and incorporated in July 1991.

This mount does exactly what it's supposed to do. I mounted it in my 2002 BMW M3 on the side of the center vents just as the instructions indicate, and it works perfectly. The Garmin mounting clip fits perfectly onto the plastic ball end of this mount. My only gripe and the reason for a 4-star rating: It's overpriced for what amounts to a stamped piece of metal with a plastic ball on the end.

This mount works perfectly for what I need it for, which is to mount my 5 Garmin Nuvi in portrait mode (tall and thin, rather than short and wide landscape mode). The ball is mounted very close to the face of the stereo which means if the GPS unit is used in landscape mode, it cannot be turned to face the driver without the extension arm; however, using the extension arm adds a bit more shake while driving. Also, regardless of which orientation is used, some of the stereo buttons are hidden behind the GPS unit (more so in landscape mode). This specific mount is actually a bit more universal than most of Pro.Fit's VSMs. as it doesn't engage any specific structure or hardware. After removing the stereo, you simply drill a couple holes in the plastic, and place the mount with a couple of (provided) screws. This is the sixth or seventh VSM I've purchased and installed from Pro.Fit, over the last 12 years. I will continue to purchase mounts from this company for the foreseeable future.

I love the fact that it held in by 2 screws essential for safety in a car. It fits both left and right hand steering wheels
