It is driven by a durable 5.5 HP Series Wound motor for long life and extra pulling power. A tough 3 Stage Planetary Gear box with a 172.8:1 gear ratio delivering power, and reliability on each and every pull. The Heavy Duty 8500 LB Winch has more power and exclusive features than any other winch in its price range: Stainless Steel Hardware- All the exterior winch body screws and bolts are Stainless steel to prevent rust and provide a long life. All Rugged Ridge steel cable style Winches include off road light mount roller fairleads allowing for the easy mount of two off road lights! Special Solenoid mounting brackets allow for multiple solenoid mounting points and the ability to tilt the Solenoid for ease of use. This "tilt" feature ensures that each Rugged Ridge winch can be used with almost all off-road bumpers and over riders! Limited 2 year warranty against manufacturing defects (1 Year on electrical). Each winch has been independently tested to ensure they meet or exceed all specifications.

This winch looks great and works well with my Rugged Ridge bumper on my 2011 Jeep Wrangler! The only complaint I have is that the directions didn't specify on attaching the wires before mounting the winch. I had to loosen the winch and then attach the wires, and then re-tighten the winch to the bumper. (What a PAIN). Other than that, I really enjoy the look and durability of the Rugged Ridge brand! I would recommend this winch, (just remember to hook the wires up first)

I wanted to install this on a smitty bilt bumper. Turns out it doesn't line up with the mounting plate on the bumper. The bumper mounting plate had to be chopped off, and a $100 "compatable" mounting plate had to be purchased. Not too happy with the extra $$, or the install. They should have people mount the winch on the mounting plate, then the mounting plate on the bumper. They also don't specify torque specifications for mounting to the plate. I am excited to see how well the thing works now. Initial though: Not too pleased.

Product arrived as scheduled. Packaging was very good. Installed very easily.Schematic a bit misleading. Seems to operate well, have not put to the field test yet, but , overall good.

Mounted perfectly on my JK jeep - looks great and i am impressed with the quality. I have yet to use it to recover the jeep from a stuck position - but it runs smooth.
